Recap :)

So now I have reached the pint where I am to recap what I learned throughout this whole blogging process. One thing that I didn't necessarily learn but knew all along is that blogging is fun. It is a great way to get feelings and thoughts out into the open. All too often I find myself musing about random stuff that may or may not be important. In a blog setting I feel free to say whatever the hell I want to and the only people who will see it is those who might stumble upon it or those who care about what I think. In all honesty I wouldn't care about what I think, but someone might.
I think that everyone should sit down and write for fun. All too often students start writing for classes about subjects that they find uninteresting and afterwards they don't want to write unless instructed to do so. Writing a blog allows students to find their interests that are worth writing about and spiting out some thoughts. It can be tough to find a hobby worth writing about. I did actually start a blog on my own one time for fun. It was meant to be a beer review blog. I was and still am very interested in home brewing beer. I took my interest in good beer to the net and began reviewing some of the beers that I had recently tried. I found that a blog was a very comfortable vehicle for me to write with.
I guess what I can conclude is that blogging sounds unusual at first but I think that most people would find it to be fun. Unless someone is just genuinely uninterested and uninteresting, they can find something that they would like to write about.

BLOGGING ROCKS

Friday 11/12

Today my media contacts were sparse at best. Once the weekend starts to come around the corner I start to watch much less television and my computer time is greatly reduced. I probably should have mentioned earlier that I don't have a computer at home so my internet time is greatly reduced.
Thinking about my lack of computer reminds me of my situation this summer. We did not have internet or television. It might seem outlandish but the situation was very nice once I got used to it. With no media to take up my time I found myself getting outside more often and getting much more done. When I came home I would sit and eat for a bit and then I would get very bored and my imagination was able to run free. This summer is when I began to bike almost daily and I guess I can thank my lack of media for my newfound hobby.
Ironically enough I want to go into the field of media and I don't like exposing myself to more media than is absolutely necessary. I have shows that I enjoy and websites that catch my interest but I like to think of myself as behind the times. I really do believe that there is far to many media outlets for young people today. With the advent of the internet, video gaming, and television it sees like kids don't run around outside enough. When I was a kid I was let free after school. The neighborhood was my territory and I was off into the sun. I enjoy people and things that inspire and I don't video games have much inspirational value.

Thursday 11/11

Once again I didn't start class until 12:30 so my day began with a bike ride.
I rode past an old billboard that was for sale as seen by the big sign that covered over the phone number that read "For Sale." I thought about buying the billboard and expanding on it. In the state that it was in it would be difficult to read from the road. I imagined buying the space after doing some research and determining if I could expand the billboard. If I could I would buy it tomorrow, and discover who drives down I-540 more often, and upon determining that nearly %100 of the people who viewed my billboard drive regularly then I would lease the billboard to some car repair shop in Fayetteville. If the economy would take a turn then my investment would pay off and I would begin a long illustrious career of buying and selling different forms of media for advertising purposes.
I suppose this is how I am to know that media and how it is bought and sold interests me. When I as in high school one of my teachers told me to never make my passion into a career, because if I turned my passion into a vehicle for making money then I would loose what I loved about that passion. I have determined that my two passions are cooking and the outdoors. Cooking is probably one of the best and most useful passions to have. My love of the outdoors probably stems from my childhood when the back yard was my playground. I may have more passions but I have not come up with any more so far.
So I don't think that writing and media are my passions. That is not to say that I don't like both of them. I have written before for fun. I won't deny it. I will go so far as to say that I may have written poetry at one point in time with some song lyrics sprinkled in there. Writing is fun. It's creative. Am when it gets down to it I think I am an okay writer. I think that I am somewhat interesting. I have always believed in writing outside the lines. I like procrastinating and writing off the cuff. And as far as media in general is concerned, I like the newspaper and if a hard copy of the New York Times, Arkansas Democrat Gazette, or Wall Street Journal is ever made obsolete then I will be very sad.

Wednesday 11/10

I began the day attending my 9:30 class. I returned home for lunch and once the food was ready I sat down and watched the previous days recording of Jeopardy. Jeopardy is one of my favorite television programs because it it the perfect game show for the audience to get involved. It is actually a secret that all college campuses are holding. Not only are college students much more likely to be in credit card debt but we are all watching Jeopardy religiously. So if Bud Light wants to get to that ever important male between the ages of 21 and 26 then they need to advertise on Jeopardy instead of buying outrageously priced 30-second ads in the Super Bowl.
Jeopardy was a college champions episode. I thought that I was going to be able to get more answers correct because they would be more up my alley. Wrong. I think that I got about three questions correct. Okay maybe more but the questions seemed difficult.
Alex Trebek is hilarious. I don't think that he has changed his appearance in at least ten years. His small talk segment after the first commercial break is either funny or completely awkward. I imagine Trebek is one of the most awkward people in the world of television today.

Tuesday 11/9

Tuesday was a good day for me. I didn't have class until 12:30 p.m.. So I got up and went on a bike ride. Once again, i-pod in toe. I like my i-pod very much as demonstrated by Monday morning. So from now on I will just skip the i-pod references.
I had some homework for my biological anthropology class so I secured a macintosh computer at the library. I prefer macs because I like the keyboard on a mac and they just seem to run a bit smoother. And those messages that always pop up on pc's that says "do you want internet explorer to remember this password from this computer." I always think to myself, "hell no, that seems stupid. That would make my password useless."
So I began my homework by signing into my Pandora(www.pandora.com) account. I really liked pandora before the commercials. I remember the first time that I used pandora. I had heard about it so I got on and typed in the name of one of my favorite bands. I typed in the name and It began to play popular song from that band. Once the song the program that runs pandora picked some music that it thought I would like. Surely enough I really liked some of the bands that I found through this program. I was hooked. Like all good websites that begin commercial free, the money became too tempting so they began running ads randomly placed between songs.

Monday 11/8

The first media in my life consisted of music immediately upon waking up. I brushed my teeth with my i-pod cranking out tunes. The music is mix of a lot of electronic and dance artists including STS9, Pretty Lights, Kid Cudi, and Modest Mouse. I got the music from one of my friends and I just erased all of my previous tunes and began anew. I suppose that is one of the benefits of only having 4GB of memory. I am not afraid of loosing any music because I get tired of 4GB quickly. I biked to campus,i-pod in toe.
Once I got to campus I got on youtube and watched a video that included the turtle man because I heard about this crazy man's exploits over the weekend from some friends. The turtle man is hilarious by the way.
I came home around 5 in the afternoon. I made some food and sat down to watch Boardwalk Empire. The show aired on Sunday so I watched the recording on Monday to avoid commercials. I don't like commercials. I do get forced to watch them on the internet. Internet commercials are perfect because they get you at the most opportune time. You are waiting for your Ziggy Marley songs to come up on Pandora and wham an axe commercial hits the screen and even if I mute it I watch it. Hell, I'm bored and the only thing on the screen is that commercial.
